Dr Burch has a lot of places he practices other than Magee. Magee is in Oakland but he’s also in East End and other locations.

What type of medicine does the provider practice?

OB/GYN and DO.

Would you recommend the provider to others?

Yes.

Why did you see this provider?

Trans care, chronic pelvic pain, hysterectomy consult, general preventative care.

Was the provider affordable?

I have had both Health America insurance and Medicaid and he accepted both. I’m not sure about uninsured.

Please describe your experience with the provider:

Dr Burch has helped me through really tough stuff with awful insurance companies. He advocates for you in appeals and does peer to peer stuff with insurance doctors author question. He is an extremely out gay man of color and he really cares about women and trans people. He’s easy to talk to and isan advocate for trans people and women so you can let him know your needs if he’s not meeting them.

He is very busy running everything from suboxone clinics to delivering babies at Allegheny county jail and advocating for trans women downtown. Thus he can be hard to get a hold of. But if you stay on him he will do whatever he can to make sure got get what you need.

Please describe your experience with the provider’s support staff:

His staff was really well educated and kind. I didn’t have to give them a 101.

Please describe the accessibility of the practice for you:

Magees hospital is physically accessible and they have valet. East end less so but they have an elevator.

Especially good with certain a certain community, special skills, or services?

Trans, working class and poor, women, people of color, recovering addicts, sex workers, disadvantaged folks, he respects and serves all passionately.  He’s a character. And he cares and is humble.

Dr Burch has left Pittsburgh so he’s no longer available here. He said he may come back some day for a trans clinic. Dr Ramgopal is trans friendly and good and practices at his same locations in East End and Magee Hospital.
