What type of medicine does the provider practice?

OB/GYN

Would you recommend the provider to others?

Yes, I would absolutely recommend Dr. Carroll, as well as the other staff at the Magee office.

When was your last visit with this provider?

0-5 months ago.

Why did you see this provider?

I wanted a consistent provider to figure out why I was having issues with my BC pills.

What was your experience making an appointment with this provider?

All interactions have been timely and easy.

Was the provider affordable?

I have UPMC insurance and almost everything has been covered. I paid a copay when I went in for STD testing outside of my annual checkup.

Please describe your experience with the provider:

I have been going there for a little over a year and I have always felt respected from the moment I enter the waiting area to the checkout process. Dr. Carroll worked with me to find birth control that worked for me (as I had to try several different medicines and finally decided on the IUD). When my schedule and hers did not match, for the IUD insertion and for STD testing, I saw other doctors. I did not feel judged for my choices. All of the staff I have interacted with have been very courteous and professional. I have had many partners while going to this office and no one has made me feel negative about that. Communication has always been easy. They return voice mails promptly the next day when leaving them outside of office hours.

Please describe your experience with the provider’s support staff:

They have always been supportive and pleasant. When updating my health info from the last visit, the nurse congratulated me on quitting smoking and shared her personal anecdote. It made me feel pleased and appreciated.

What identities do you have?

I am a cis straight female, white, 29, and a little overweight. I am able-bodied and lower middle class.

Please describe the accessibility of the practice for you:

Everything appeared to be accessible in the building. The door the office did not have an automated system and might be a little heavy to open. While gender-neutral, the bathrooms do not have much for support for using the toilet. I did not notice if there was braille, but I would assume the hospital has it. In Oakland, Magee is very close to transit and has parking, I believe at $6/hour. There is also neighborhood parking, but it is permit parking with a time limit..
